The excellence and elegance of Made in Italy in our Cru Wines
Decades of study into the peculiarities of our even smaller plots of land led us to decide to vinify and bottle grapes from a specific area separately. From these grapes Medeo, Molinetta and Le Tese are born.
Among our cru wines, Medeo is the most long-lived and elegant red, a Montefalco Sagrantino that is only produced in exceptional vintages, from a special portion of our land.
Molinetta comes from soils rich in sand and limestone residues that enhance the grapes, favoring the structure and depth of the wine.
Over the years we have also recovered a very old Trebbiano Spoletino vineyard, partly cultivated using an ancient method. With its grapes we have started to produce a very fragrant white wine: Le Tese.
Le Tese
Spoleto DOC Trebbiano Spoletino
The desire to discover some of the secret resources of our land led us to recover a very old vineyard that saw the vine planted with trees. We started to produce this ancient white grape variety with its grapes: this is how Le Tese was born. It is a Trebbiano Spoletino of great charm, very fragrant, rich in matter and always distinguished by a marked acidity. This white is vinified with a long maceration on the skins and left to mature for about 9 months in steel tanks before an additional 9 months in the bottle. It gains complexity as the seasons pass.
It is golden yellow, a color typical of wines made with medium-long maceration on their skins. Nose: rich in citrus, exotic and yellow-fleshed fruit notes, enhanced by slightly mineral hints. Taste: broad, complex, with great matter and at the same time supported by a particular acid freshness. Very persistent.
It complements local cheeses, egg dishes and more generally vegetarian appetizers. Enticing with black truffles. We recommend serving it at a temperature of 12/13°C (54/56°F).
Medeo
Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG
Among our cru wines, Medeo is the longest-lived and most elegant red, a Montefalco Sagrantino that is made only in exceptional vintages. After the harvest it rests in the skins for almost two months, it matures for about two years in French oak barrels and remains in the bottle for another 18 months. We have dedicated a very significant name to it: Medeo was the nickname of Amedeo Romanelli, the first person who started making wine in our family.
Intense ruby red color with garnet hues to the eye. Nose: balsamic and spicy notes complement red fruit and subtle hints of wood. Taste: great structure with balanced tannin and long persistence.
It combines well with a rich main course of meat, roasted or stewed, and especially with cheeses. We recommend serving at a temperature of 16/17°C (60/62°F).
Molinetta
Montefalco DOC Rosso
Named from an ancient mill near our production area in Montefalco, Molinetta comes from a single vineyard plot that is characterized by soils rich in sand and residual limestone. The peculiarities of this area enhance the grapes, promote structure and depth. This is why we have chosen to vinify it separately and only in vintages that we consider exceptional.
The grapes from which this Montefalco Rosso is made are Sangiovese, with a small proportion of Sagrantino and Merlot, also grown in our Colle San Clemente vineyards. After harvest, the wine rests in the skins for almost 2 months, then left to mature for about 2 years in French oak barriques and in the bottle for another 18 months before being distributed for sale.
Ruby red color to the eye. Nose: berries, cherry, plum and roasted sensations. Taste: great structure, elegance and roundness complement an important tannicity.
It goes well with rich first courses, roasts and grilled meats, and aged cheeses. We recommend serving it at a temperature of 16/17°C (60/62°F).
